“…and Proud of it!” is a celebratory declaration of pride in one's individual identity and an all-embracing exclamation of our community's collective resolve to bring about a world that is inclusive of all Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender people. Pride means different things to different people and that is why we opted for 2012 messaging that is versatile and poignant. "...and Proud of it!" can apply to everyone in our diverse community. One can be transgender and proud of it. One can be bisexual and proud of it. People can be proud of the LGBT community as a whole, proud of our accomplishments, or opt out of being labeled all together. No matter who you are, or how you identify, at LA PRIDE, you will be welcomed and celebrated.

Acceptance is crucial—especially when you are a teenager facing all the hurdles of growing up, learning who you are and establishing yourself in society. Add being LGBT, and you begin to see what it is that so many of our youth face today. “GSA (Gay Straight Alliance) Network is a youth leadership organization that empowers youth activists to fight homophobia and transphobia in schools by training student leaders and supporting student-led Gay-Straight Alliance clubs in California and throughout the country,” said Daniel E. Solis, Southern California Program Manager. “GSA Network’s youth advocates have played a key role in changing laws and policies that impact youth at the local and State level.”

Christopher Street West, like all non-profit organizations, relies heavily on hundreds of volunteers that help to move our mission forward. One important facet of that volunteer force is our dedicated interns.

There are three enthusiastic and talented individuals who assist in communications and public relations ensuring that the world knows about PRIDE.
“The Communications Team at CSW would never reach our goals if not for the tireless hours that our un-paid interns put in each week,” said Sam Borelli, CSW communication consultant.
Steven Muniz returns for his third PRIDE season. In 2009, Muniz was instrumental in increasing our media data base and helping to launch our inaugural pre-Parade press conference. In 2010, Muniz assisted in outreach to the younger LGBT community and wrote the Honoree biographies featured in the Pride Guide and on the Web site. Muniz continues his outreach work, and will assist in the production of the 2011 PRIDE Guide Magazine.
